We love our colt, we named him "Bravo"

We have enough love in our hearts, and enough room in our barn for at least one more, and when we drove down to Green Valley to see him the first time, we could barely leave him there. He is so special and he knows it! We didn't care if we didn't know who his dam or sire was, because we will fill that role from now on. These animals deserve a wonderful life, and with us, they will have it. That's why we say we are Lucky. Not everyone finds a way to help others and we are thankful that the Sanctuary helped us to help the animals.
Thank You!!!
Keepin it natural,
Rene'

Rene and "Bravo" - Love at first sight!

Spirit: the vital principle or animating force within living beings. And boy does he have it! A few months ago I came across an ad in the Sunday newspaper. It was about animals needing homes. One section caught my eye. It was an amazing woman rescuing horses. I went online and discovered multiple horses. But when I saw the paint, I knew that was my horse. I worked very closely with a very kind lady who walked me through getting him home. She demonstrated kindness and patience with me and still is. The day my boy came home I could not touch him. He was scared, terrified of his past and possible a horrible future. How was he to know he would be a spoiled, loved member of the family? Now Spirit is halter trained, has had blankets on, bore weight, and loves to be hugged and kissed. My friends call him my puppy. I call him my boy. Spirit has helped me realize that there are people out there who care enough to rescue even a scrawny little boy like he was, and now Spirit has learned to trust. Thank you Karen and Holly! You two are truly the greatest people I know.

It’s mid December and I feel magic. I’ve felt it for about 2 months now. It started back in October and no, it’s not the Christmas holiday that I’m talking about. I’m not the gullible shopper-type who gets hooked into the early bird merchants who shove their goods at us before Halloween is even around the corner. I’m talking about the magic I take away from my visits spent at Jumpin’ Jack Ranch, home of Equine Voices Rescue & Sanctuary. I’m proud to say that I make up the “human half” of a new partnership between me and two adorable weanlings. While preparing my home for the new arrivals I’ve spent at least 1 day a week at the ranch. Sometimes I help shovel pooh, other times I move panels, sometimes I brush the horses who grant me an audience, a few too fragile times I’ve whispered a prayer for comfort and to ease pain, but each and every time I stand in awe. I find myself holding my breath at the beauty and spirit that’s around me. It’s not just from the horses but from the people who live and volunteer there. The horses are magnetic, regardless of their intentions. People are touched and rewarded by the interactions with these magnificent creatures. But it’s us, the humans that walk away with the feeling that tingles, the charge of electricity from the experience, should I say it, magic.
