The Guest House at Equine Voices Rescue and Sanctuary is an inviting “home away from home” that I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who loves horses, and relaxing in an incredibly peaceful setting (where you’re likely to even spot bunnies and roadrunners!)   I am a volunteer at the Sanctuary, and had the pleasure of staying at the Guest House for 3 days…it was an experience I’ll never forget.  The House is cozy, roomy, and has everything you need to enjoy a getaway from a busy schedule.  The decor is a country theme with items in each room that will make you think of wonderful old memories, and most of the artwork is focused on equines.  A stay at the House will have you strolling the Ranch watching the animals in all their glory, marveling at the gorgeous mountains, seeing the staff and volunteers loving what they do, and you’ll end your day by sitting on the patio looking at stars like you’ve never seen before.   I guarantee, as you are leaving, you will be planning your next visit, and telling your friends and family that this is what they’ve been looking for!

My husband and I visited the sanctuary and stayed in Gulliver’s House in September for our wedding anniversary, best anniversary present a girl could ask for. Our first trip to the sanctuary was the previous year in November and just did the 2-hour tour. I was super excited to be able to stay an entire weekend to really get to spend some quality time getting to know all the horses. We came from Prescott which is a 4-hour drive. We arrived Thursday night and the house was so inviting! It had all the comforts of home and more! The first evening was very special as we got to spend the evening with Karen, Brenda and meet Tom. It was mentioned to me that I should get up with the sun the next morning, that it would be magical. So I did – I woke up at 5:00 a.m., put on my flannel since it was chilly that morning, grabbed my camera and watched the sun come over the spectacular mountains! Nobody was around, just me, the horses and the peacefulness surrounding this magical place. I got some amazing photos, and the horses were all so well cared for. Friday evening was special as we got to have dinner with Karen. I am truly amazed by this woman and what she has accomplished over these 19 years that Equine Voices has been around, I’m just sorry that I did not become a part of it much sooner. One of the highlights of the weekend for me was that Karen allowed me to groom Joy, who I sponsor. I’ve loved this girl since the day I met her, and this was such an amazing time we had together that day. Saturday morning when we left, I actually cried, my husband knew I would. I was sad to leave the horses and this magical place, but I will look forward to coming back again really soon I hope. Thank you, Karen & Equine Voices

Since my stay on the ranch, I felt at peace and immediately knew this was a special place. I felt an overwhelming sense of serenity being surrounded by nature and these beautiful animals that deserve healing and tranquility. The guest house felt like an extension of my natural surroundings, even with the modern inside feel. Between relaxing on the porch to watch the sunset, cooking healing food in a comfortable kitchen, and walking the ranch at night, it truly feels like a slice of heaven every second you’re present.
