The “Naco Nineteen” Rescued from Auction
Equine Voices along with several other rescue groups and private donors banded together to save thirteen of the nineteen donkeys that were auctioned off on Thursday February 25th at the Willcox Arizona sale barn. With the help of Tracy Williams who attended the auction while we were bidding online, we were able to secure these wonderful domestic donkeys. Care for the Horses mobilized volunteers and three trailers and delivered them to Equine Voices on Friday, February 26. During transport, one went down in the trailer, but thankfully rose to the occasion upon arrival. All thirteen are doing well, and once gelded will be available for adoption through Equine Voices and Equine Wellbeing. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that stepped up to assist in this large rescue, and a special thank you to Care for the Horses, Arkwatch Foundation, Tracy Williams, Equine Wellbeing and those anonymous donors who helped us help them!
With Gratitude,
Karen
